Dear PPCTrax Client:
We wanted to update you
on some exciting and new features we have added to PPC Trax for
you.
Today
we’re introducing Ptrack – our new “persistent
tracking code”. Ptrack is a breakthrough for you, for PPC
Trax and for the click fraud auditing industry.
With the new Ptrack tracking
code, the PPC Trax reporting system will be able to better track
and report, with much higher degrees of accuracy, the occurrence
of repeat click offenders.
Ptrack will allow the
PPC Trax tracking system to get behind firewalls, proxy servers
and most other hardware and software. Each time a visitor clicks
your PPC ad, a Ptrack tracking code will attempt to be inserted
onto your click visitors’ computers. The Ptrack tracking code
is in addition to our system’s attempts to install a traditional
“cookie” on your click visitor’s computer.
In order to take
advantage of this technical breakthrough, you need to log into your
PPC Trax account, and replace your current tracking code with the
new one, which is already configured for each URL you track. Simply
go to our “Get Tracking Code” section, remove the old
tracking code from your web pages and paste the new tracking code
in it’s place.
The bullets of the rest
of the update include:
- We’ve produced
9 brand new video screen cam tutorials for you and your staff to
use the new features and reports mentioned below.
- One button, prior monthly Google Adwords report.
- One button, prior monthly Yahoo/Overture/MSN report.
- We have also added a user selectable section for your daily email
Top 10 report.
- We have also added three new reports by Keyword, Date and IP Address.
One other major benefit
of Ptrack for both you and PPC Trax is with this new technical software
architecture in place, we can make changes to the tracking codes
seamlessly and without you having to do any more tracking code replacements.
Next, we have created
9 video screen cam tutorials for you or your staff to learn how
to use some of the basic to advanced features of the PPC Trax reporting
systems.
You can find the tutorials
on both the top and left navigation panels.
You will also find dedicated,
one button reports for the prior calendar month for all Google and
all Overture / Yahoo affiliate websites on the left nav panel and
in the Reports link on the top nav panel.
We have also added a
user selectable section for your daily email Top 10 report. You
can click the check boxes for reports you want to receive, or uncheck
the boxes for reports you do not want to be emailed to you.
We have also added three
new reports by Keyword, Date and IP Address. These three also have
their own links on the left, and on the page linked from the top
nav link labeled Reports.
We are in the process
of adding more user selectable options, reports by email, and email
alerts that you will be able to define. We are in the final stages
of testing these and another major feature update that will surely
get you very excited.
As the PPC advertising
and click fraud auditing industries mature, we are seeing some new
developments from the Google Adwords program particularly.
We now suggest that at
the end of the month, before compiling any reports to send to Google
for refunds, that you use our Referrer report and count the number
of clicks recorded in PPC Trax and reconcile them to the number
of clicks that Google shows it charged you for.
We make this suggestion
as we are seeing Google get more aggressive about removing possible
suspected click fraud. In other words, you may see fewer clicks
you are charged for in your Adwords account than your PPC Trax reports
display.
Regards,

Reports
Our reports
are real-time. Once your tracking code is activated and you
start getting clicks from referrers, you will start seeing data
in your reports. We've designed our reports to be very easy
to use. Simply select the drop down menu option for your URL,
the date and referrer.
There is a DNS
lookup to display Country / City data on the IP addresses that have
clicked your ads. You can view this information in one of
two ways:
1. Hover
your mouse over the number of clicks by an IP address in the "#
of visits by IP" report column. The "alt"
mouse display will give the Country / City, if any.
2. When
you click on the number of IP clicks in the " # of
visits by IP" column, it opens a new window to report
on all clicks by that IP address. At the top of that report
page, in the header section, the Country / City info will display,
if any.
Please
note: you will not see any data in your reports if
the URL was directly entered into the user's browser. In other
words, there MUST be a click referrer from a different URL for our
system to record a click transaction. This way, we prevent
you from receiving mixed data in your reports.
If you have
any other questions on reports, please send an email to: support@ppctrax.com
MS Excel /
.csv data exports were introduced into the system on 2/21/05 for
dates and referrers. IP address .csv exports were introduced
into the reporting system on 2/26/05.
Tracking
Code
The ppctrax.com
tracking code is a simple mechanism in concept.
Just go to the
"Get Tracking Code" link at the top. Copy your code
for the particular URL you are tracking. Go to the web page
in your HTML editor and paste the tracking code anywhere on the
landing page you wish. It's probably best to put our code
as the last tag set on the page, even after the </html> tag.
We have tested the tracking code and it can be anywhere on your
page. So if you have problems or conflicts with your JavaScript's
or other scripts conflicting with our tracking code, you can put
our tracking code anywhere on the page that you like.
That's all there
is to it.
If you are having
trouble with your tracking code, please send an email or call us.
